Sometimes a dog just steals your heart and there's nothing you can do to stop it. Okay, this happens more often than sometimes... all dog lovers know what this feels like. And I felt it with this guy! And pretty much every dog I meet for photos. But.. I have a special place in my heart for the "squish" breeds.

Arthur was the most fantastic model, even in the heat he was more than happy to share his modeling talents with us! Luckily we picked a nice park with shade and some water for him to cool down in. Brachycephalic dogs need some extra caution in the heat and he did just fine. We shared a lot of laughs, and Arthur received a lot of smiles and attention from kind people passing by.

Arthur is moving out of province soon and I'm so glad I was able to meet him and capture some beautiful moments for his momma.

I am thrilled to be a part of the Open House event taking place at Happy Paws Dog Care Services in Mono, coming up in just two weeks time.

This is a great dog-friendly and interactive event with plenty of activities and services, and I can't wait to see everyone there with their furry friends. Welcome to another edition of the blog. Just a quick look at what happens when a shoot doesn't go as expected!

The below image was from a winter day amongst weeks of extreme cold warnings that finally warmed up enough for me to try my new 70-200mm lens out in the field with our pug. However, my excitement to get out there was short lived, it was probably one of my most challenging situations. First reason being was I had a time limit. I avoid those in sessions for a reason, but continuing on, it seemed everywhere I wanted to use as a backdrop had knee-high snow that made it almost impossible to continue through. Every time I saw a nice spot, I ended up proceeding but then having to turn back around (time suck in an already limited morning). With time marching on, I finally had to just settle on the side of the path, in one of the more visually boring areas, where I could at least hunker down in the snow. Once I did that, my screen started fogging up due to condensation, so I had to shoot blindly at times, hoping my Nikon Z6 and Tamron lens combo was able to nail focus on it's own. Bear was running wild, making funny pug faces, and completely uninterested in paying attention (one reason I prefer using leashes to edit out!). My snowpants were a bit too tight (gained the Covid 15?) and coat a bit too long, which caused me not to be able to crawl around and follow him at the right angle for the shot. I milked all the seconds left, shrugged my shoulders, packed up and rushed home so I could make an appointment. When I finally got to check the back of my camera, I realized it wasn't a wash, and this is where editing really can make that wow factor in an image. Just look at the detail in Bear's face in the final. My zoom lens didn't let me down!
